Prerequisites for the course
It is recommended that you have successfully completed the practical and theoretical units before undertaking this course. Alternatively, you might have suitable theoretical electrical knowledge and be a practising electrician.

Course overview
This course will cover all aspects of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (British Standard 7671) including the new Part P section, and provides an in-depth study of the UK wiring regulations. These are the regulations with which you must comply as an electrician in the UK. You will study terminologies, electrical supply and earthing systems, and the selection of protective devices for a wide range of electrical installations. In addition, you will learn how to use the charts and tables to select suitable fuse and circuit breaker ratings, and to determine RCD trip times, cable current ratings and voltage drops. The course also includes the regulations for special installations in bath and shower rooms, swimming pools, hot air saunas, construction sites and caravan parks.

You will take regular revision tests during the course comprising typical questions to prepare you for the City and Guilds 2382-10 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations BS7671 multiple-choice examination.

  Method of Assessment
  We will assess your progress on the course by regular coursework exercises. You will also need to take the City and Guilds 2382-10 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations BS7671 multiple-choice on-line examination as part of your career progression to become a qualified electrician.
