Course outcomes |
| |
At the end of the course, you will be confident to install
electrical circuits in a commercial environment. You will be
able to |
| |
select conduit and trunking systems to take into account cable
capacity, number of |
bends and supports, and earthing requirements (to comply with
the IEE wiring |
regulations) |
prepare and install steel conduit systems |
prepare and install PVC conduit systems |
wire ring main circuits in conduit systems |
wire lighting circuits in conduit systems |
use trunking systems for electrical circuits |
prepare and connect various types of cable, e.g. steel wired
armoured (SWA) cable, |
or
mineral insulated metal sheathed (MIMS) cable |
connect distribution panels for electrical circuits |
understand the supply and distribution requirements of
three-phase electrical |
systems |
perform simple inspection procedures on electrical installations |
perform simple testing of electrical circuits using the
appropriate meters |
produce estimates and equipment lists for given electrical
installations |
As with all of our courses, we will train you to a very high
standard of workmanship by our experienced trainers. Working to
the IEE wiring regulations, you will use safe working practices
to undertake electrical installations as used in commercial,
business or industrial environments. |

Method of Assessment |
Throughout the course your practical work will be assessed by
your trainer. You will also take a short multiple-choice test to
check your knowledge of the theoretical parts of the course.
Successful completion of the assessed practical work and the
multiple-choice test will lead to a college certificate and
entry to subsequent courses. |
